Controller

The controller within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is:

The game

Rendwake can be played entirely offline. There is no game server, no account, no sign-up with the controller, no advertising identifier, and no embedded analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. The controller receives no personal data from your use of the game.

On the device, the game stores what it needs in order to be played:

• your save game: hero level, attributes, equipment, shards and crystals, unlocked depths, best times, chronicle, bestiary, and relics
• an interrupted run, so you can continue it after a restart
• a record of credited purchases, so that every purchase counts exactly once
• settings such as music and effects volume, haptics, and controls

This data sits in the app's protected area on the device. Other apps cannot access it directly, and Rendwake does not transmit it. Input from the touchscreen, a controller, or a keyboard is used only to control the game and is not stored. Removing the app deletes everything.

A backup of your device, for example via iCloud, may include the save game. Apple's privacy terms apply to that.

Settings contains links that lead outward: to the privacy policy, legal notice, and support page, which the game loads from this website, and to Apple's licence agreement, which opens in the browser. A connection to the server in question is made only when one of those pages is opened, and it produces the data described in the section “This website” or by the provider concerned. The manual inside the game needs no such request.

Game Center

If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, Rendwake reports your results to the game's leaderboards (daily dungeon, region guardians, and greatest depth) and unlocks achievements, for example for relics found. To show it in the camp, the game reads your Game Center name and your rank on the daily leaderboard. If you are not signed in, none of this happens; the game then works entirely without Game Center.

Game Center is a service provided by Apple. Apple manages sign-in, player name, friends list, and the leaderboards themselves on its own responsibility. What other players see of you is set in the Game Center settings of your device. The controller runs no server of its own for this and does not store this data. Apple's privacy policy applies.

The legal basis for transmitting your results is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: the leaderboards are a feature of the game that you use by signing in to Game Center. You can sign out at any time in your device's settings under “Game Center”.

Purchases in the game

Rendwake is free to play. Storm Crystals, bundles, the Storm Pass, and the “Storm Bond” subscription can optionally be bought on the App Store. Apple handles the payment. Your payment details are never transmitted to the controller. The controller receives only aggregated statements from Apple with no reference to individual people. Apple is the controller for the purchase.

The game checks on the device, through Apple's interface, whether a purchase is valid, has been refunded, or whether a subscription is active. It does not create an account in the process. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

This website

When you open these pages, your browser transmits technically necessary information: IP address, date and time, the file requested, the volume of data transferred, where applicable the page visited before, and your browser and operating system. This information is recorded by the host, STRATO. STRATO stores complete IP addresses for no more than seven days to detect and defend against attacks. The controller receives only anonymized access logs from STRATO, for six weeks; they cannot be traced to any person.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the secure and trouble-free operation of the website. The logs are not combined with other data.

The website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, which processes the log data as a processor under a contract pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. STRATO may use additional processors for this purpose. The possible recipients and safeguards for transfers to third countries are set out in STRATO's data processing agreement.

There are no cookies, no audience measurement, and no fonts, maps, videos, or scripts embedded from third-party servers. Images, video, and the music sample come from the same server as the page. That is why no consent banner appears.

These pages link to third-party services, among them Apple and STRATO. Those links are plain links: they load nothing, and data reaches the provider concerned only once such a link is followed. From that point on, that provider's privacy policy applies.

This website stores nothing on your device – neither cookies nor entries in your browser's local storage. On the first visit to the home address, the language order sent by the browser is used only to open an available language address; it is not stored. After that, the language is part of the address, for example rendwake.app/de/ or rendwake.app/en/.

Contact by email

When you contact the support address, your email address and the content of your message are processed in order to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, and for matters concerning a purchase additionally Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

The message is kept for as long as it takes to deal with it and is deleted afterward unless a statutory retention period applies.

The support mailbox is operated by STRATO as a processor. The additional processors described in the following section may be used in the process.

Recipients and transfers to third countries

Playing the game itself results in no transfer to the controller or any other recipient. Data leaves your device only through Apple's services: your results to Game Center if you are signed in there, and your purchases through the App Store.

STRATO receives website visitor data and messages sent to the support address and processes them under instructions. Under the data processing agreement, processing generally takes place in the EU or EEA. Where a transfer to a third country is required for a contracted service, STRATO ensures that the requirements of Art. 44 et seq. GDPR are met. STRATO lists its approved additional processors and the respective safeguards in its data processing agreement. Data is received only by recipients used for the contracted service.

In connection with the App Store, purchases, and Game Center, Apple processes data on its own responsibility, including in the USA. The controller has no influence over this processing; Apple's privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You have the right to information about the data stored about you, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, and the right to object to processing based on a legitimate interest.

The controller holds no data about your use of the game. A visit to this website cannot be traced to any person: complete IP addresses are seen only by STRATO, and only to defend against attacks (Art. 11 GDPR). All the controller holds is what you send yourself – an email to the support address.

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – in particular in the Member State of your residence, your place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement – if you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR.
